Why I built this tool
I generate the covers for articles and case studies on this site in Gemini. It outputs large JPEGs, while the site needs lightweight WebP so pages load fast.
It used to take several steps: one service converts JPEG to WebP, another compresses it, and free services also cap the number of files and are packed with ads. I kept jumping from one to another.

Why use WebP instead of JPG and PNG on a website?
At the same quality, WebP is usually 25–35% smaller than JPEG and much smaller than PNG. Pages load faster, and speed affects both SEO and conversion from ads.
What quality should I choose?
For photos and covers, 75–85. Below 70, gradients and small text may show artifacts. Use 90+ only if the image has a lot of small text.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens in your browser, and the files never leave your computer.
Is there a limit on the number of files?
No. The only limit is your device’s memory: files are processed one by one, so even dozens of images go through without trouble.
Why did the file get bigger after conversion?
It happens with already well-compressed JPEGs or with WebP at high quality. Lower the quality by 5–10 points or keep the original — the tool shows the difference in percent.
