Why I moved from operations management to Google Ads
Back at university I loved programming and every kind of math. I have an engineering, mathematical mindset — I’ve always loved numbers. I think I saw Google Analytics before Google Ads, and I knew right away: this is what I want to do — development or analytics.
In operations management, marketing was always part of my job. And I realized two things: marketing can be managed, and it must be measured. Without measurement, marketing turns into image work.
The closest fit for that vision was the role of marketing director at a sushi delivery chain: I was responsible for both marketing and the business numbers. Then I started working with Google Ads on my own — and realized I had to focus on one thing. Before, I did everything: SEO, social ads, email marketing, offline marketing. But you can only master and monetize one thing.
I chose performance marketing, already understanding that analytics is the foundation of advertising. Hence the tools you see in my work: end-to-end analytics, integrations, CRM systems — all tied into Google Ads.
